The opportunity for significant funding towards BML2’s transport and economic case is being offered by the DfT and we already have Network Rail’s 2008 detailed Engineering Study which showed the 7-mile Uckfield–Lewes link could be reconstructed in just 27 months. Whereas increasing network CAPACITY was top priority in the South East a year ago, now high emphasis is on CONNECTIVITY because of climate emergency targets.
